J1 South East League 12/9/10

Tullow 15-27 Kilkenny

Kilkenny’s first victory of the season was tempered by the tragic loss of former player George Williams Jnr. The game commenced with a minutes silence in memory of a well-liked and well respected individual. Kilkenny Rugby Club has formally retired the number 13 jersey from both Firsts and Seconds teams, for the remainder of the season, as a mark of respect to George. The club extends its sympathies to Georges’ wife Louise, his children Ali and Poppy, his mother and father, brother and sisters.

Squad: Wayne Kavanagh, Rob Kelly, Nigel Daly, James Blanchfield, Garry Clarke, Ger Costelloe, Willie Duggan, Ray Pembroke, Victor Harper, Dave McMahon, Alan O’Donovan, Alan Pembroke, Killian Everard, Mark Coughlan, Colm Brady, Lee Wilson, Brendan McIntyre, Julian Hughes, Eddie Brennan, James Coady, Jamie Quan, Phillip Walsh.

The next fixture is away to Longford, on Saturday 18th September, in the first game of the Leinster League. Bus leaves the Ormonde Hotel at 9.30am.
